Frederic Fenimore Forrest, Jr. (born December 23, 1936) is an Academy Award nominated American actor. Forrest was born in Waxahachie, Texas to Virginia Allie McSpadden and Frederic Fenimore Forrest. He is probably best remembered for his roles as Chef in Apocalypse Now, It Lives Again, Falling Down, Right to Kill (1985 TV movie) and for playing the writer Dashiell Hammett twice in film—in Hammett (1982) and in Citizen Cohn (1992 TV movie). He had an outstanding role as the renegade half breed, Blue Duck in the 1989 miniseries, "Lonesome Dove". He was Oscar-nominated in the Supporting Actor category for his role in The Rose. His other notable film roles were in Promise Him Anything (TV), One from the Heart, The Stone Boy, and horror maestro Dario Argento's first American film Trauma, along with the director's daughter Asia Argento.
