Life

Eoin Colfer was born May 14, 1965 in Wexford, Ireland. Colfer had long dreamed of writing books, since his early childhood days of reading stories of Viking heroes. While Colfer had already published such books as Benny and Omar, 1998, Benny and Babe, 1999, and The Wish List, 2000, his dream really came true in 2001, when his first Artemis Fowl book was published. The books became classics overnight, and he became the New York Times best-selling author of books for children and teens, known for writing the Artemis Fowl Series, Half Moon Investigations, and The Supernaturalist, along with the Eoin Colfer’s The Legend of... books. Colfer deplores the comparison of his popular, pseudo sci-fi fairy tale to the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. Artemis Fowl was written as a “modern fairy tale”, paying homage to Raymond Chandler and James Bond. Colfer currently lives in Ireland with his wife and two children. His son's name is Finn.
