Emiko Niwa (丹羽 笑子 Niwa Emiko) is a fictional character from the anime and manga D.N.Angel. In the Japanese version of the anime, she is voiced by Sakiko Tamagawa, and when in her youth, by Taeko Kawata. In the English dub, she is voiced by Kelly Manison. In the Wink drama CDs, she's voiced by Yūko Nagashima.

Basic information

Emiko is Daisuke Niwa's mother. She is extremely hyperactive and does not act her age. She makes unusual clothing for Dark when he goes out to steal artwork. She is also responsible for sending out the notices to the police that tell them what, when, and where Dark's next target will be. Despite the fact that she is in charge of warning notices, Emiko often places them without telling Daisuke, usually ruining Daisuke's social plans. Emiko is very much in love with her husband, Daisuke's father Kosuke. It made her very upset as a young girl that she could not become Dark Mousy. She would beg and plead him to come out and be with her as he does with Daisuke, but he would never appear.

Personality

Emiko and her father rig the house to be a training ground for Daisuke. She has a very peppy personality, and views Daisuke’s transformation as cute. On the surface, it seems that she doesn’t feel Daisuke’s pain, but inside she feels for her son and promises to watch over him.
