Egalmoth is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He appears in The Lord of the Rings as the eighteenth Ruling Steward of Gondor. Gondor also began to be troubled by Orcs on a large scale. Egalmoth received a plea from Deor of Rohan, who had learned that the Dunlendings controlled Isengard and wished the Steward to eject them, but Egalmoth was already troubled by Orcs from Mordor and could send no aid.
