Alexander "Eck" Robertson (November 20, 1886-February 17, 1975) was an American fiddle player. In 1922, he became the first fiddler and first country musician to be recorded when he performed 8 tracks for the Victor Talking Machine Company in New York City. His rendition of "Sally Gooden" showcased his ability to interpret one melody with several variations. In 1923, it was released along with a duet of Robertson and fiddler Henry C. Gilliland playing "Arkansas Traveler" - the first commercial release of a country or folk musician.
