Dust is a 1998 science fiction novel by Charles Pellegrino depicting a collapse of the planet's ecosystem due to the disappearance of insects.

Theme

A terrified world threatened with apocalypse desperately tries to find a solution to the problem of a planet rapidly disintegrating into chaos. While categorized as science fiction, this novel feels frighteningly real at times, highlighting how fragile nature, and people, can be when a piece is taken out of the puzzle. Also contains many tidbits of eco-information that fascinate, all the more so being as they are accurate and precise. Things such as: extinction cycles, forced evolution, species diversity, and human interaction with nature are all described in a realistic and interesting fashion.
