Coordinates: Dunkirk is a village between Faversham and Canterbury in England.
The origin of the village's name is still not very clear, but it is understood that the name was a result of a house, lived in by a Frenchman from Dunkerque in France, who named his house 'Dunkirk'. Dunkirk's main claim to fame is that in 1838 it was the scene of the last armed rising on British soil. See John Nichols Thom.
