Dudley is a city in Stoddard County, Missouri, United States. The population was 289 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Dudley is located at 36°47′24″N, 90°5′32″W (36.789916, -90.092334)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.4 square miles (1.0 km²), all of it land. Dudley is seven miles west of the city of Dexter.

Demographics

In 1950 Dudley had 319 people.[1] As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 289 people, 117 households, and 84 families residing in the city. The population density was 721.2 people per square mile (279.0/km²). There were 135 housing units at an average density of 336.9/sq mi (130.3/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 99.65% White, and 0.35% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.35% of the population. There were 117 households out of which 32.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.1% were married couples living together, 5.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 28.2% were non-families. 23.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.88. In the city the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 12.8% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 18.0% from 45 to 64, and 16.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 35 years. For every 100 females there were 96.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.6 males. The median income for a household in the city was $23,542, and the median income for a family was $29,821. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $19,107 for females. The per capita income for the city was $12,339. About 12.7% of families and 17.4% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.1% of those under the age of eighteen and 34.1% of those sixty five or over.
