DragonFable (often abbreviated to "DF") is a free online browser-based single-player RPG developed by Artix Entertainment. Created in July 2005, the game went into beta testing on November 21, and on June 10, 2006, the game was officially released. It is implemented in Adobe Flash and uses anime-style graphics, some of which are animated. It is a prequel to another Artix Entertainment game, AdventureQuest. The game is updated weekly, with the introduction of new quests and monsters. Each account may have up to three characters, or six for Dragon Amulet Holders (paying players). The game allows players to engage in turn-based combat against monsters to accumulate experience points (EXP) and gold. Characters have a combat level and six stats to train, and a specific class. Players may use gold to purchase weapons and pets to aid them in combat. There are areas to explore, and special events such as holidays and wars, for players to meet new types of monsters and complete quests. Players may play a limited version of DragonFable for free, or pay a one-time fee of US $19.95 to get a Dragon Amulet and unlock extra features (such as more quests and items). Dragon Coins can also be bought and spent within the game to purchase new weapons, pets and pet upgrades, as well as additional storage space. Another way of earning Dragon Coins is by winning in the art contests that Artix Enterainment releases on the forums.

Gameplay
In DragonFable players are able to walk around and explore the 2D world, by using the mouse with high quality art. The game is updated weekly with new quests, items, and areas. Players may also interact and team up with non-player characters (NPCs)[1], in different towns and have them help in battle with special abilities.
Also, players may enter PvP (Player Versus Player) battles at the Aeris Battlespire. DragonFable has many unique monsters and enemies with their own goals and ambitions in the game's storyline, that players may encounter such as Xan, Drakath, and Sepulchure. There are many side quests that players can take to help out NPCs, gain experience points, or find rare items.
Combat
Combat in DragonFable uses a simple turn-based battle system with option commands like "attack" which lets warriors do a simple slash, rogues do two quick cuts with their daggers, and mages cast a single spell, using the element of the weapon they currently wield. There currently is no "flee" option, only for the special class ChickenCow Lord[2], which makes the abilities, "trip", "tangle" and "root" currently useless. Players try to get their opponent's health points (hp) down to zero before the opponents do the same to them. Some monsters have impressive regenerative abilities and to defeat them the players have to drain them of their mana points (mp) before attacking their health. Players can also use potions which heal 100 hp or 100 mp or use a type of defensive ability which gives an 80% chance to block or dodge the opponents attacks. A third option, unlockable at level 6 (level 5 for the players who have chosen the warrior class), will give the players a chance to immobilize the opponent. Some opponents, however, have a chance of resisting the attack. After battling a monster players gain experience points, which lets the players reach a new level to become more powerful, if they accumulate enough of it. With an increase in level, the amount of experience needed to reach the next level is also increased. The amount of experience points needed to get to the next level is the square of the current level times 100 (ex. to get to level 19, and you are currently a level 18 player, you'll need 18*18*100=32400 EXP to get to level 19). Fortunately, most monsters are scaled to level with the player. New weapons can also be used when players gain a level, the same goes for items. The current level cap is level 40 (from build 5.7), the previous level cap was at level 29. When a player reaches the level cap the amount of EXP needed to reach the next level is set to 9999999999 EXP. The number is so high that it is impossible to attain that amount before the level cap is raised once again and thus reducing the amount of EXP needed to level up considerably.
Stats
As the game progresses, and the characters increase in level they gain three stat points. The points can be used to boost stats up to the character's current combat level, player's choose which stats to update in order to raise the strength of their abilities. The cost of raising any one stat one point is based on the characters current level, and no stat can be raised higher than the characters current level. The cost of training any stat increases by 5 pieces of gold per level (ex. the cost to train a stat at level 16 is 80 pieces of gold). To raise stats players must talk to Sir Render in Falconreach, or speak to Captain Rolith in Oaklore Keep. Players can also choose to remove all the character's stats for a price of 1000 gold coins in Falconreach.
- Attack (ATK) affects the amount of mêlée damage done to the opponent.
- Endurance (END) affects how much life the player has by increasing the HP by 5 points per one stat point added.
- Dexterity (DEX) currently only affects how much damage is done by ranged weapons, but will soon be able to increase the characters ability to dodge attacks and obstacles.
- Intelligence (INT) affects how much damage is done by magic attacks and increases the characters total mana power by 10 points per one stat point added.
- Charisma (CHA) increases the pet training (pet damage), and some NPC interaction roles. (any possible roles are currently unknown)
- Luck (LUK) affects all rolls in a small way (except for the drop rate in quests/wars).
Base Classes/Armours
At the beginning of the game (after the new player creates and activates their account), there are three - six if the player has purchased a Dragon Amulet - slots where the user can create a character for each slot. The player is given a choice of which gender and class they want to be, as well as changing the character's appearance and giving him/her a name. Classes are expected to have a system where players can hold on to classes when they log out and be able to swap classes when it suits them without losing skills. These are the starting classes that are currently available:
The class is chosen at the start in the character creation.
- Warriors are a strong starting class that are the most well-balanced of the three. They wear thick armor and generally wield swords, axes, and maces. They suffer no skill penalty when wielding something else, however, they can not dual wield daggers. They can only attack once while holding a dagger or staff, resulting in half damage. Warriors focus on Strength and Endurance and sometimes Dexterity because they occasionally use ranged attacks to hit multiple enemies which might warrant some attention to Dexterity. Most of their skills focus on one powerful strike or multiple attacks on a single foe.
- Mages are a fast learning starting class that base their fighting style around the elements and attack by multiplying damage. They wear light robes and equip staves, wands and occasionally daggers. Unfortunately, they are unable to cast spells when wielding any other weapon and cannot dual wield daggers. Mages mostly sharpen their Intelligence, Endurance, and Luck. Most of their skills are elemental based attacks, such as Fireball, Wind Strike, Lightning (energy) and Ice Strike, and their ability to attack multiple enemies has no cooldown.
- Rogues are a cunning and swift starting class that wear light clothing and use two identical daggers to attack their opponents and as such get two attacks, each delivering 60% damage. When wielding any other weapon they can only attack once. They focus on many skills such as Dexterity, Strength, Endurance, and Luck. They have offensive skills that can strike four times or inflict more critical damage.
Armours can be equipped to upgrade to a new class. A list of additional classes follows.
- Guardians are the first levelable class that allows the player to go on quests to gain new skills. In order to access all of the Guardians' skills, you must buy the Guardian Blade. However, the 14th skill has yet to be unlocked. The armor resides in the Falconreach Guardian Tower if the player wishes to equip it or remove it. Players can only become Guardians in DragonFable once they have verified their Guardianship from AdventureQuest (Note: Only use once per AQ account.). The class was completed on April 13, 2007.[3]
- DragonLords are powerful characters who have complete control over dragons. The class was released on June 15, 2007 and is only available to players who have purchased a Dragon Amulet. The DragonLord class was the second levelable class available in DragonFable. DragonLords come in all varieties, but they all have great power. According to the recent entry in the Design Notes, there are three major things that make up being a DragonLord.[4] It is also confirmed that dragons in DragonFable will start out as baby dragons[5], but will be able to become full sized dragons[6]. It will take a dragon over 100 years to become full sized, unless the player purchases a Dragon Amulet.[7]
- Pirates are one of the first class armors available to free players. Players can obtain the armor by going to Osprey Cove, buying Forged Papers for 3500 gold, and giving them to Rhubarb. Players can train all the skills whether they are upgraded to DA-holders or not. To train a skill, you must get a Black Pearl from one of Rhubarb's random quests, and return it to him. There are a total of 14 skills, but only upgraded players can use all the skills. Players who have not upgraded can only use the 7 skills on the left. Each starting class has 3 special skills with the Pirate armor to go along with the 11 skills shared by each class. Warriors get Sea Legs, Pistol Shot, and SwordPlay. Mages get Blast, Curse, and Hex. Rogues get Stealth, BackStab, and PickPocket. There are no huge drawbacks for any starting class using the Pirate Armor, so the armor works well with each starting class. [8]
- Dread Pirate is a new version of the pirate class armor released as a celebration of the ninja victory in the recent pirates vs ninja war. The armor can be obtained by Thyton in Falconreach if players first got the Pirate armor in Osprey cove. Only a DA holder can obtain the armor. If a player has unlocked skills in their Pirate armor, they are also unlocked for the Dread Pirate armor. This armor is identical to the pirate armor except for its black appearance and slightly higher defense.
- Ninjas was recently released on October 12th 2007. Players can unlock the armour from buying Itchy itchy Paradise from either Jubei's shop or Ayane's helmet shop and then giving it to Thyton. Leader of the Ninjas and Ninja class trainer is Thyton. Players must hand in Wind Scrolls in order to unlock the Skills, which are obtainable through three of Thyton's random quests. Ninjas, along with Pirates, were the first classes available to free players. Everyone is able to level up the skills to the max. However, only players with a Dragon Amulet are able to use all those skills. Non-DA players are only able to use half of the skills. The Ninja class was released along with the 'Shadow of the Wind Village' which is the Ninja town.
- DeathKnight is a class which sacrifices health to deal damage to their opponents. It is still in beta testing. A preview of the male armor can be seen under the August 6, 2007 Design Notes. The helmet, cape, and sword, as well as a necklace and ring, can all be obtained now by doing a special quest. This class' armor is in test in DragonFable, it is in Beta Testing since December 24th. Players can get the armor via Ballyhoo for free.[9]. The armor wasn't released on the date (December 30), and it's unknown when it will be released.
Special classes
Most these classes are released on special holidays like April Fools and become rare and possibly unattainable once the holiday is over, but some are used only on special occasions, like the Dragon Rider class.
- SnuggleBear: Is not technically a class, but a helmet that players put on that lets the character change into a blue (for male characters) or white (for female characters) bear with three special attacks. This armor was released on February 14, 2007 and could be bought with Dragon Coins, and can currently only be found in the "Crystal Clear Lake" quest at a low drop rate. It was also equipped for free during the Hero's Heart Day event.
- ChickenCow Lord: Is the special April Fools Day armor that can currently be found in several dungeons such as the "100 Rooms of Fiery Doom!" or bought with Dragon Coins in Cysero's Shop. It has the ability to let the character run from a battle (along with 4 other skills), but as a result lowers the characters HP to 1 and teleports them to the beginning of the area. It has a rapid hit attack which hits the enemy 12 times, as well as a few other abilities.
- Dragon Rider: Is a class obtainable through the "Titans of BattleOn" quest. The quest "The End?" in the Xan quest chain lets the character ride their full sized dragon. Also, added on October 19, 2007, the quest "Gorgok Returns" allowed DA-Holders to use their dragons to fight level 12 Dravirs, and the boss, the level 17 Gorgok. Gorgok is the dragon that destroyed Willowshire earlier in the game's storyline. As of June 29, 2007 the Dragon Rider Armor was released for training and obtainable through Lady Celestia. The armor of the Dragon Rider is the armor of the DragonLord but with the dragon, in other words it's the dragonlord riding the dragon. The aspect of timetravel in 'Titans of BattleOn', where players get their first taste of using the armor, allows non-DA players to equip the Dragon Rider armor by using the DA of their future selves. Dragonriders can now summon their dragons by speaking to Lady Celestia in Sunbreeze Grove to train their dragons to use more skills and fight other player's dragons in the Dragon Arena. Trophy have no purpose now but soon will unlock heads, tails, and wing styles.
- Pumpkinlord: Also called the Pumpkin King is a special Halloween (Mogloween) armor/class that was released on November 2nd 2007. The armor has fourteen special abilities such as root, pumpkin bomb, and eternal night. You do not need a Dragon Amulet to use the armor. Unfortunately, the armour wasn't there to stay, despite various petitions on the Dragonfable Forums. However, it will be back next Halloween.
It has two options to use to stun adversarys.
- Deathknight: A temporary armor. It was available in Ballyhoo for testing but was removed on January 1 for a short while, but returned soon that same day. This armor makes you a Deathknight, like Sir Malifact. It has very strong attacks, hitting in the hundreds easily. However most attacks are darkness and some require the sacrificing of HP. A Dragon Amulet is not required. The release date is not yet announced
Professions
Professions are a recently released update to the game, allowing players to craft and build certain objects. So far only the Blacksmith profession has been released, but more professions will be available in the future.
- Blacksmith: You level up your skill to build new weapons with materials you can buy or find in quests. To level up the profession you must match up three things to a name. If you get it right, you will have a chance to level up the skill and learn a new recipe. Players can use the blacksmith skill to make their own weapons, but they must still purchase materials from Yulgar.

Wars
Wars occur in DragonFable every few months or so. The wars allow players to unite and fight a horde of monsters for a purpose (which is usually to protect a town or other place). There is also a possibility of losing a war but this only occurs when not many people fight in a war or if the staff deems it necessary to advance the storyline. For each war, there is usually a set amount of "waves" (consisting of a group of monsters) but these numbers can change almost instantly depending on what the DF team think, same goes with town HP. Wars that have so far been fought are as follows:
- Invasion Of The Undead: 100,000 Waves - Boss: None
- Dragon Attack At Willowshire: 100,000 Waves - Boss: Gorgok

Dragons
Dragons in DragonFable come in two different stages; Baby and Titan. A Dragon Amulet is required to quickly mature your Baby Dragon into it's Titan form, but Baby Dragons themselves are available to all players.
Baby Dragons
As soon as the player's Dragon hatches the player is left with a baby dragon. The baby dragon is for both DA holders and non-DA holders. According to Cysero in the Design Notes, the players have to feed their dragon each day giving it a skill point to allocate into 5 different pools and ultimately making it stronger, but if they miss a day, they miss a skill point. The type of food they feed it determines how many training points they earn for that day. There are three types of food and they give 1 point (15 gold), 2 points (10 dragon coins) and 5 points(rare drop from quests). The pools are protection, magic, fighting, assistance, and mischief. Each pool has 5 unlockable abilities that will unlock in order as you put more points into that pool. The baby dragon will act as a pet. A player may also choose the element of the dragon's attack, which also carries over to other levels of dragon. Other information is currently unavailable. DA holders may also change his appearance by customizing. Baby Dragons will show as your pet, however, it won't show in your inventory. You will have to go to Lady Celestia in Sunbreeze Grove to get it. As of 12/14/07 when you press the dragon amulet icon it says your dragons stats, and element. You can also summon your baby dragon outside, and inside of battle by pressing the DA icon. DA holders can customize their dragon for free until the end of the DragonLord saga.
Titan Dragons
To get a dragon of this size players are required to own a Dragon Amulet. With a Dragon Amulet players can customize their dragon, train it, fight with it in the Dragon Arena and do certain quests with it. The quests that use the titan dragons are usually those at the end of quest chains. Non-DA's can only use their titan sized dragons in one quest, "Titans Of BattleOn". You can use your titan scale dragon in the "Titans of Battleon", "The End", "Gorgok Returns", "Something Fishy", and "Honda's Accord" quests. Titan Dragons are also used in training the DragonRider Class.
Special Items
To get a special item, it is usually obtained from a quest as a rare drop. These can include items with no purpose but when sold, sells for several hundred gold, or an item which unlocks a special area. Currently, the only special items are known to be dropped from quests in Falconreach and its surrounding areas, e.g. Bandit Camp, the quest in the Inn. The items include:
- Reens' Cappucino Machine
- Fae Action Figure (Now with kung-fu grip!)
- Flowers
- The CorDemi Codex
- Bloodstained Mark of Honour
- Twilly and Zorbak Action Figures
- Old Portrait (from Chaney's shop for 0 gold)
Notes
The CorDemi Codex was available during 2005, when a meteor crashed upon Falconreach. Now they are purchasable from Cysero's DragonCoin (DC) store, or as a very rare drop item from quests in Falconreach. The Basic CorDemi Codex can be obtained from the quests "Root of All Sneevil" and "The Marsh," the Advanced CorDemi Codex can be obtained from the quests "Spirits in the Inn" and "Bandit Camp," and the Master CorDemi Codex is available from the quests "Fiery Heart of Mount Shining Star" and "The Pyramid." Note! This section is still under development as it is recently added, so new items will be added as they are discovered.
Plot
Setting
The game takes place in a land called "Lore", set roughly 5 years before AdventureQuest. The central town is known as Falconreach, in which most of the current events happen. After the war "The Wrath Of Xan!" the town of Falconreach was all but destroyed but players donated money to reconstruct the town and make it look even better. The players raised over 3 billion gold after the Xan War in 2006. The town is currently up and running with new art and three Falcons on the peak of the Guardian Tower symbolizing Falconreach's rebirth. To the west of Falconreach lies the Oaklore Keep, a place where the "Knights of the Pactagonal Table" stand to protect the good subjects of good King Alteon. Oaklore Keep is also where any new player starts out in game. To the east from Falconreach players can turn north and enter Surewould Forest to meet Robina Hood and go on quests. If the players continue east instead of going north, they can enter an area known as "That 'A Way", where Valencia the rare item hunter resides and sells items that do not seem to be worth the price. There are also two paths that are currently being worked on in that area. By taking the gryphon back at Falconreach, players can enter the haunted town of Amityvale, where the player may learn the mysteries of the girl Thursday, or join up with Artix to fight zombies and other undead. Players taking the gryphon can also fight head to head with another player's characters in the Aeris Battlespire. If they head through the portal by the tower they can visit Warlic and go on side-quests or continue through another portal to the DA-only Floating Isle. The staff recently created a new pirate town called Osprey Cove. Players can talk to First Mate Rhubarb to get their pirate armor (after getting papers from Meringue's shop). Another new addition is the Shadow of the Wind Village, where by giving Thyton a copy of Itchy Itchy Paradise (a spoof on Naruto's Icha Icha Paradise), a Player can get Ninja armour. If a player train enough, he/she can be the new DragonLord, and rule the magic of being a squirrel.

Towns
Towns are places in DragonFable where the player can access stores (to buy weapons and armor, etc) and take certain quests, as well as talk to any NPCs of significance. During Wars different towns are attacked and in some cases the town will lose "town health", with the players fighting to help prevent the town being "destroyed" (possibly).Currently, seven towns have been released (one of which is destroyed)
- Falconreach
- Willowshire (destroyed)
- Oaklore
- Amityvale
- Frostvale (returns for each Frostval)
- Osprey Cove (Pirates)
- Shadow of the Wind Village (Ninjas)
- Not necessarily a town, but it can be set at home... Aeris PVP Battlespire
- Swordhaven (not released yet)
Design Notes
The Design Notes, on the DragonFable website, offer an in-depth look at all the coming updates, quests, features, all the heat from the forums, recent contests etc. The Design Notes have run since July 26, 2005, to the present date and there is usually an entry every day or two. The staff, who've currently posted in the design notes include Artix, Cysero, Geopetal, and Zhoom.[10]
The Dragon Amulet
A Dragon Amulet allows users access to special areas, quests, weapons and other items, as well as the opportunity to become a DragonLord with full control of the players future dragon and customization. The Dragon Amulet is very similar to the Guardianship in AdventureQuest and the Starcaptain Upgrade in Mechquest and costs the same amount of money ($19.95) plus 2000 extra Dragon Coins for another $5.00. The Dragon Amulet also allows players to create 6 characters instead of 3 and change their armor color in the "Armor Paint Room". There is also a special offer where players can get all 6 of their characters to have a Dragon Amulet for $29.95 and for an extra $5.00 you can give 2000 extra dragon coins for all six of your characters. It is completely safe to buy if you buy it on the website. There is no other way to get the Dragon Amulet except from the website, trying other ways may receive severe consequences.
Dragon Coins
Dragon Coins (DCs) are special coins that are claimed in game to be the ancient currency used by dragons. Players can use them to buy extra storage space for their items and use them to purchase powerful weapons and items, some unavailable to non-DA's, in Cysero's shop. DCs can currently not be found after a victorious battle. They can only be obtained if the player either wins one of Artix Entertainment's usual contests or if the player makes a purchase with real money, with currently only two exchange rates, including $9.95 for 2000 DCs. This has led to criticism by players due to the unavailability of them in game, though in a recent Design Notes article, the AE staff has claimed they are working on a new system of obtaining DCs, though no more info has currently been released on the subject. Also, any item bought with DCs cannot be sold for DCs or even regular gold, meaning that to get rid of the item the player must use the destroy option to remove from them their inventory.
The Doom Weapons
The Doom Weapons appeared in Lore some time ago. Spirits of elemental darkness are bound to them. The weapons are incredibly powerful, but with corrupt and evil minds of their own. According to The Irismancer, "Everyone can ignore their whispers for a while, but in the end they end up dead or mad or worse... like Sepulchure."
They are very expensive, starting at 28,000 gold coins. The Doom Weapons permanently powered up once again on April 20, the end of the Friday the 13th Part II war. When they powered up, it made the price go up 30,000 gold coins. The price for the original Doom Weapons originated at 20,000 gold coins when they were sold by Sabrina. When the doom weapons were stolen, the new keeper of the weapons had the price lowered to 10,000 gold. A while after the price of the Doom Weapons was increased to 25,000 gold, then changed to 28,000 gold.
On July 13th 2007, during the Friday the 13th Part III war, players could find a Unlucky Doom Essence as a possible drop after defeating wave to upgrade the doom weapons again although the price did not go up. The essence has now been released again as a drop in one of the game's new quests, for those who missed out on the war, though now players must use 5 essences to upgrade their doom a second time if they haven't already. The doom weapons were given a third upgrade on November 16, 2007.This upgrade requires 8 unlucky doom essences. The level requirement for these weapons is level 8 or level 15 if you are using the third upgrade of the doom weapons, which is unusually low for weapons of such strength. However, very few players obtain the required amount of gold to buy these weapons before level 20. Players can currently find them west of Falconreach, where they are sold by the Mysterious Stranger. There are three different type of Doom Weapons, one for each class. The weapons are:
- Shadow Reaper of Doom - Originally, the holy Axe of Artix von Krieger. After the great "Undead Assault" it was cursed and infused with pure darkness.
- Twin Blades of Doom - A rogue's daggers ornamented with two small skulls on each blade.
- Skull Staff of Doom - A mage's staff ornamented with a skull.
- 4th Doom Weapon - Unknown
- Necrotic Blade of Doom - Currently unattainable and is wielded by Sepulchure. Artix Krieger has confirmed it to be the fifth Doom Weapon[11], and has been mentioned in the game as of April 27, 2007. It confirmed that Drakath is trading Sepulchure the White and Black Dragon Boxes in exchange for the Necrotic Blade of Doom. Some people think the bnecrotic blade of doom is spleachures master.
Sometimes during combat, Doom weapons will enable their 'Doooom power', similar to the ability Poison. When this happens, the Doom weapon says "Hahaha! Engulfed by Darkness!", and the weapon will have a red glow. The Doooom poison starts with dealing 5 damage and stops after approximately 5 turns. Cysero had announced on the forums that he had made a weapon once equal in power to The Doom Weapons. They are known as the Frost weapons. Unfortunately, these weapons were stolen, but could be found in the war: "The Wrath Of Xan!". The weapons are no longer as strong as the Doom Weapons due to the recent update that increased their power. The level requirement for the Frost weapons are level 12, 20, and 28. Although they no longer match the power of the Doom Weapons and are weaker than several newly released weapons, the Frost weapons still have a devastating special blizzard attack in addition to being the second strongest ice weapons in the game currently. They can only be used by players who own a Dragon Amulet. The Doom weapons can be upgraded in the Cystal Clear Lake quest. The second upgrade is with the mysterious stranger in Falconreach. There is now a third upgrade in Yulgar's forge.
Trivia
During play many opponents and settings are taken from other media (though sometimes with a slightly altered name to obey copyright), examples include:
- Awdreetoo - a minor boss in Amityvale named after the plant Audrey in the movie "The Little Shop of Horrors"
- Amityvale - a town presumably named after the famous book and horror film "The Amityville Horror" rather than the actual event that inspired the book itself
- Gananana - a level 10 boss in the QuadForce quest. It is a reference to Ganondorf from "The Legend of Zelda" video game series, a play on the "Mahna Mahna" song, and a play to the fruit Banana
- Honda - the final boss in the Ninjas quests. His name is the same as the Japanese car brand. The quest's name, "Honda's Accord", is a play on a Honda car model
- Itchy Itchy Paradise - Before becoming a ninja players must acquire a copy of this book. It's name is a play on the book read by Hatake Kakashi in the Anime/Manga series Naruto.

Complaints
There are many players who complain about the limited inventory space (20 slots[12] not including the character's default weapon). This has been criticized many times on the forums. Although players can purchase 25 more empty slots[13], many complain that the additional space fills up too quickly due to the fact that players have to keep several different weapons and items to have advantages and strategies against their opponents. Unfortunately, due to the cost of the extra bandwidth additional slots require, extra inventory space will always cost 100 Dragon Coins for the first 10 spaces, 300 DC for the next 5 spaces, And 500 DC for the last 10 spaces Other complaints include the lack of storyline in quests and the repetitive nature of quests and grinding. While DragonFable has an overall storyline, several of the quests are repetitive and force the player to kill the same monsters over and over. While grinding is common in many other RPGs and MMORPGs (such as RuneScape), DragonFable is prone to excessive amounts even at low levels causing many players to become bored of the game.
Also, some players have complained about the fact that all enemy attacks are directed at the player's character and that your allies do not gain experience. The latter, at least, will soon change as guests will be levelable.
Another common complaint is how you need to re-invite party members after logging out. Still, other gamers question the party system's existence in DragonFable as it allows lower leveled players to kill higher leveled monsters, but gives no real advantages to higher leveled players, due to the current weakness of party members. Every so often, the AE Staff Team holds a Treasure Hunt in DragonFable. In a Treasure Hunt, the staff hides a few desirable items in certain quests at very low drop rates, and only for a limited time. Treasure Hunts are a large cause of concern for many DragonFable players, and elicit many complaints due to low drop rates. The drop rates are currently unknown. These drop rates require excessive farming if one is to obtain the items without having to buy them from Cysero's Shop with Dragon Coins, causing many to complain. Another cause for uproar occurred during the first Treasure Hunt when the items were removed from Cysero's Shop. Many players complained about their removal and argued that the information about the offer's expiring date was unclear and easily misinterpreted. Since this incident, AE Staff has made it a point to state exact times for the start and end of a Treasure Hunt to avoid similar incidents. Players often complain of the nature of the 'wars'. These wars feature waves of generic enemies and is often seen as repetitive and unchallenging. As players collect Defenders Medals (1 per wave) to obtain special 'Defenders' items, the grinding can be tedious. These items require between 10-80 medals each, and retain a great amount of versatility. (Example: The Defender's Necklace and Ring are upgradeable and the best item of their kind.)

There are special DragonLord class skills which revolve around your ability to command the power of Dragons. Second... there is your Dragon! He is cute, but with proper training and a little customization he can be one mean fire (or any other element) breathing force to be reckoned with. Finally... is the full sized Dragon!"

Currently you can hold 20 items of any type. We are still testing to see how adding more bag slots effects character loading speed and the database size/strain. It seems likely that you will be able to use DragonCoins to unlock 10 more slots. (If it goes smoothly, we can always go higher)"
