Dorsey, Maryland, is a locality in eastern Howard County, Maryland, south of Elkridge, north of Savage, and close to the Anne Arundel County border and Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI). It is in the southern part of the Baltimore metropolitan area. Dorsey is perhaps best known as a stop on the MARC commuter rail system, which carries commuters into downtown Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Dorsey is a stop on MARC's Camden line and contains a large parking lot off of Maryland State Highway 100. Dorsey station mainly serves commuters from Elkridge and Ellicott City, as well as the northern parts of Columbia. Businesses in the area include hotels, warehouses and a mini-campus of Johns Hopkins University. Also in the area is the Dorsey Station Center of the University of Maryland University College. Both of these mini-campuses are located within the Dorsey Business Center. Dorsey Business Center is a 50 acre business park on the site of the former Dorsey Speedway, a stock car track, and now contains over two million square feet of office and retail space. Dorsey Business Center is considered to be the heart of Dorsey, Maryland. It was the first large development in the region and the majority of local industry grew up around it after it was developed in 1984-1989 by Douglas Legum Development Inc. Howard Transit buses connect Dorsey station with various locations around Howard County as well as with the nearby Arundel Mills mall.
