George "Doddie" Weir, born July 4, 1970 in Edinburgh, is a Rugby Union player, in the lock position. George Weir started playing rugby for Stewarts Melville RFC, his former school, in Edinburgh. He moved to Melrose RFC in the Borders and was part of the team that won six Scottish club championships. Doddie was first capped for Scotland against Argentina in 1990. He suffered a horrific knee injury as a result of foul play while playing for the British Lions against Mpumalanga Province in the 1997 South African tour. Doddie has won 61 Scottish caps and played for Newcastle Falcons. He finished his playing career together with Gary Armstrong at The Borders in 2004. Doddie is now Director of Rugby at 110sport Management Ltd based in Stirling, Scotland.
