The Division of Kingston is an Australian Electoral Division in South Australia. The division was first proclaimed in 1949.
About the electorate
The division is named after Charles Cameron Kingston, a Premier of South Australia (1893-1899), elected to the first House of Representatives in 1901 and the first Federal member of the Division of Adelaide in 1903. The division, currently held by Kym Richardson for the Liberal Party of Australia, is a key marginal in the upcoming Australian legislative election, with a margin of only 0.1%. Richardson will be challenged by Labor candidate and psychologist Amanda Rishworth and Australian Democrats candidate Matthew Fowler at the 2007 federal election. (See also Candidates of the Australian general election, 2007) A July 2007 poll in The Advertiser newspaper showed that Rishworth led Richardson by a margin of 57% to 43%. [1] An October 2007 poll had the margin at 56% to 44%. [2]
