"Died" is the final Alice in Chains song recorded with lead singer Layne Staley, before his death (in 2002). The music to the song, along with the more famous, "Get Born Again" was originally written for Jerry Cantrell's solo debut Boggy Depot in 1998. However, the song was shown to Staley, who ultimately wrote lyrics for the song, and recorded it with the band in 1998.[1] Although it's not as well known as its brother song "Get Born Again", it has become one of AIC's most memorable because it was their final song with Staley. The song was released three times, being on Music Bank, Nothing Safe: Best of the Box and again on The Essential Alice in Chains in 2006. "Died" has been covered by Staind, and Seether live on numerous occasions.
