Dickens Heath is a village within the Metropolitan Borough of Solihull in the English county of West Midlands. It is part of the Hockley Heath parish, near Cheswick Green and Hollywood. It was originally a hamlet, but is currently undergoing development as a new village, with a target population of over 2,000. Parkridge Homes are developing a mixed use village centre which upon completion will provide a development with three key locations, namely Market Square, Waterside and Garden Squares. Dickens Heath Village Centre features residential accommodation, alongside shops and leisure facilities, incorporating community amenities and on-site management services. Both prior to, during and after the construction of the new 'village' many within the Borough of [Solihull] decried the spoilation of the countryside as well as the allegedly tasteless nature of the new housing developments.
