This term comes from the fact that the behavior the person is said to be exhibiting is negative behavior often associated with the male sex.. A variant of "dickhead" used by people who do not wish to or cannot speak in vulgarity is the name "Richard Cranium" playing on the nickname for Richard and using a synonym for head.
