Desmond Child (born 28 October 1953, Miami, Florida) is an American songwriter and music performer and producer. His hits as a songwriter include "I Hate Myself for Loving You" (Joan Jett), "Livin' on a Prayer" and "You Give Love a Bad Name" (Bon Jovi)[1], "I Was Made for Lovin' You" (KISS), "Dude (Looks Like a Lady), "Angel", "What it Takes", and "Crazy" (Aerosmith), "Just Like Jesse James" (Cher), and "She Bangs" and "Livin' la Vida Loca" (Ricky Martin).[2] His career started when he formed a soft rock band 'Desmond Child & Rouge' in 1975. This band is known for their inclusion on the soundtrack to The Warriors in 1979, with the song "Last of an Ancient Breed". One member, Maria Vidal, went solo and had a hit in 1985 with "Body Rock". Child has had more success with his songwriting and has worked with/for various high profile artists from the pop and rock world - KISS, Cher, Michael Bolton, Cyndi Lauper, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Scorpions, Richie Sambora, Billy Squier, Ratt, Meat Loaf, Bonnie Tyler, Dream Theater (on the album Falling into Infinity), Ricky Martin, Roxette, Vince Neil, Jesse McCartney, Robbie Williams, Billie Myers, Stephanie McIntosh, Sakis Rouvas, Chris Braide, Kelly Clarkson, INXS and LeAnn Rimes among others. Child is credited with discovering Troy Tuminelli and recommending him to Edgardo Diaz before Tuminelli landed in Menudo, and, eventually, in Guiding Light. He was the key partner in Alice Cooper's Album "Trash" in 1989. He had a Billboard Top 100 hit in 1991 as a solo artist with "Love On A Rooftop". He produced Meat Loaf's album Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose, and co-wrote six of its songs.[3] Recently, he finished working on the new Scorpions album Humanity - Hour 1. At the moment he has just finished producing a song on Mariah Carey's new album to be released in February 2008. Also he is producing an album for the Finnish rock band The Rasmus. It is tentatively titled Black Roses and it is set to be released in March 2008.
