Desmond Lamont Relaford (born September 16, 1973 in Valdosta, Georgia) is an American professional baseball infielder who is currently in the Texas Rangers organization. He has previously played for the Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, New York Mets, San Diego Padres, and the Philadelphia Phillies. He is reliable with the ability to play several positions on the baseball field. Despite his career .240 average the video game High Heat Major League Baseball 2003 bizarely made him made him one of the game's premier hitters. It was announced that Relaford signed a minor league deal with the Rangers on February 14, 2007. He competed with Jerry Hairston Jr., Drew Meyer and Joaquin Arias for a spot as utility infielder during training camp [1], but wound up starting the season in the minors. In early July, Relaford was called up to the Rangers after regular second baseman Ian Kinsler was placed on the disabled list after suffering a stress fracture. [2] Desi Relaford pitched one inning for the New York Mets. He recorded a perfect inning with one strikeout and threw over 90 mph.
