The Derwent Entertainment Centre is a venue for the people of Hobart to enjoy a wide variety indoor of performances. The venue was constucted in the 1980s and is situated in between the waterfront of the River Derwent, the Brooker Highway and Tattersalls Park. The Derwent Entertainment Centre is the primary venue in Hobart for large indoor functions/events. It was the home of Tasmania's (now defunct) basketball team the Tassie Devils. Like several other venues in Tasmania it often attracts the "big" artists that tour the state. Major artists that have performed there include: Delta Goodrum, Dire Straits, Elton John, Cliff Richard, Joe Cocker, John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Midnight Oil, Brian Adams, Johnny Young, INXS, John Fogerty, Silverchair and Powderfinger.

Other uses include clearance sales and Expos.
