Defence Services Academy, Pyin Oo Lwin, (
), also known as DSA, is a university of cadets for the new generation in the Burma's military. It offers a degree in arts and science with a four year courses.
History
The Defense Services Academy was first established in the Ba Htoo military base near Yauksauk in Southern Shan State, Burma in 14 February 1955. The DSA, was moved its base into the British hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay Division in June 1957. As one of the most Burma's pretigious military academy, many male youngsters are interested to attend the academy for the aim of future career in the defence services. However, the power ranking opportunity is more impressive than the career line in the military, for the youngsters. Until its 49th intake in 2007, DSA does only permit to male applicants, though it seeks multi-ethnic groups to collaborate in the academy.
