"Deep" is a song by Pearl Jam and the tenth track off of their debut album Ten. The music was written by Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament and the lyrics by Eddie Vedder. It is by far the most aggressive song on the album and features the use of bass chords by Jeff Ament at the explosive beginning along with the guitar. Ament plays a twelve string bass on the track.[1] Lyrically the song is very dark and features the themes of suicide and drug abuse, which are a few of the common dark themes on the album.
