Dave Hood created, wrote and starred in the There Goes a... videotape series, a set of children's videos which aimed to be both informative and entertaining, and which were moderately successful (total sales in the millions). Each one featured a different kind of vehicle, as in There Goes a Train or There Goes a Monster Truck. He played a bumbling, overenthusiastic guy named Dave, whose title changed for the format of the episode, usually introduced this way:

Hello, kids, I'm Racecar Driver Dave...well, I'm not a real racecar driver, but the real drivers have let me pretend for the day, so I can show you all about race cars

The specifics, of course, changed for each tape. After the first four videos were made, the producers realized that little girls want to be Race car drivers, Police officers etc. So they hired Becky Borg, a former PM magazine co-host, as an actress in the series. Eventually Becky became a co-writer as well and went on to help write and star in 12 videos. Dave's catch phrase was "I shouldn'ta done that!", as he caused one disaster after another while trying to do the jobs of the drivers of the given vehicles. Dave started as a radio personality at the age of 18, then moved into TV when he turned 30, starring on the syndicated show PM Magazine. Eventually he started Live Action Children`s Video series, featuring the There Goes a... theme. In every Live Action Children's Video, he was also the producer, writer, actor, and, occasionally, the director.
