Dark Ages is the fifth LP for the metal band Soulfly. The album was released on October 4, 2005, more than a year from the previous one Prophecy. The album was strongly influenced by the death of Max and Gloria's (Max's wife) 8 month old grandson, Moses, who died on December 10, 2004. As of October 21, 2007 Soundscan reported Dark Ages has sold 100,000 copies.

Sound
Many critics have described Dark Ages as a return to to Cavalera's thrash and death metal roots of the early Sepultura days, its sound also has been compared to his post-thrash album Chaos A.D.-era, however the world metal influence found on the first four Soulfly albums is definitely present. This time, Cavalera traveled to five different countries - Serbia, Turkey, Russia, France, and the United States - in order to record all the sounds that he desired to have on the new album. The album also features a didgeridoo on 'Carved Inside' and a Jamaican thumb piano on 'Riotstarter' (Cavalera's favourite song on the record), which further showcase Cavalera's desire to experiment within metal.
