Dana is a city in Greene County, Iowa, United States. The population was 84 at the 2000 census.

Geography

Dana is located at 42°6′24″N, 94°14′25″W (42.106653, -94.240375)GR1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²), all of it land.

Demographics

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 84 people, 29 households, and 20 families residing in the city. The population density was 297.5 people per square mile (115.8/km²). There were 32 housing units at an average density of 113.3/sq mi (44.1/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 100.00% White. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 5.95% of the population. There were 29 households out of which 41.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.7% were married couples living together, 3.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.6% were non-families. 20.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.90 and the average family size was 3.29. In the city the population was spread out with 31.0% under the age of 18, 11.9% from 18 to 24, 29.8% from 25 to 44, 19.0% from 45 to 64, and 8.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 31 years. For every 100 females there were 104.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 114.8 males. The median income for a household in the city was $33,750, and the median income for a family was $30,625. Males had a median income of $26,250 versus $21,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $11,199. There were no families and 8.8% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and none of those over 64.
