Career

WWF Referee (1982-1987)

Dan Marsh started out in 1982 in the World Wrestling Federation as referee Danny Davis. He also occasionally wrestled as the masked Mr. X.[1] In 1986, Davis started becoming a controversial referee because he did not call out cheating in matches and showed a bias towards the heels.[2]

"Dangerous" Danny Davis (1987-1989)

On the January 26, 1987 edition of Superstars, The Hart Foundation defeated the British Bulldogs for their first WWF Tag Team Championship. Danny Davis was the referee and allowed the Hart Foundation to use illegal double-team maneuvers in the match.[3] As a result of the match, WWF President Jack Tunney stripped Davis of his referee duties. Davis then joined up with Jimmy Hart and the Hart Foundation and became "Dangerous" Danny Davis. At WrestleMania III, he teamed up with the Hart Foundation to defeat the British Bulldogs and Tito Santana. Davis was the one who got the pin on Davey Boy Smith after he hit him in the head with Jimmy Hart's megaphone. Following the event, Davis entered into a feud with Sam Houston. The feud lasted several months.[4] He also participated in the battle royal at WrestleMania IV.[5]

WWF Referee (1989-1994)

In 1989, Davis was reinstated as a referee and he worked for the WWF until 1994. [6]

Post WWF Career

Davis would eventually join the independent wrestling scene. In 2004, he joined the World Wrestling Alliance and became their heavyweight champion. [7]
