Donald James MacHale, better known under the pen name of D.J. MacHale, (born March 11 1956 in Greenwich, Connecticut) is the author of the science fiction/fantasy series, The Pendragon Adventure. The plot follows the title character, Bobby Pendragon, through his adventures on each of the ten different "territories" of the existing universe, collectively called "Halla". The Pendragon Adventure, which began in 2001, has sold over one million copies. Eight of ten planned books have been released. The seventh, The Quillan Games, was released on May 16, 2006, and the eighth book in the series, The Pilgrims of Rayne, was released on May 8, 2007. The title of the upcoming ninth book has been revealed as Raven Rise. MacHale has also written, directed, and produced many TV series and movies including, Flight 29 Down; Are You Afraid of the Dark?; Encyclopedia Brown; Tower of Terror; and Ghostwriter.
