Cristiane Rozeira de Souza Silva (born May 15, 1985 in Osasco, São Paulo), better known as Cristiane, is a Brazilian women's football striker, who cuurently plays for VfL Wolfsburg in Germany. She was a member of the Brazilian National Team that won the silver medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She made her debut for Brazil's Under-19 team at the age of 15 and was a member of the squad that came fourth in both the 2004 and 2002 FIFA U-19 Women's World Cup. She had moved up to play for the senior team in time for the 2003 World Cup in the USA.[1] She was an Olympic Silver medal winner along with the rest of the team as the losing finalists to the United States in the 2004 Summer Olympic Women's football tournament.[1] Christiane began her club football career playing for Sao Bernardo and then Clube Atlético Juventus in her native São Paulo before following her compatriot Marta to Europe. She joined 1. FFC Turbine Potsdam in February 2005 and helped them win the Bundesliga in that season before moving to VfL Wolfsburg in July 2006.[1] She was awarded the FIFA Bronze ball for her achievements in the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and nominated for 2007 FIFA World Player of the Year.[1]
