Cresson is a city in Hood, Johnson, and Parker, Tarrant Counties in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 377 and State Highway 171, seventeen miles southwest of Fort Worth. According to a 2005 U.S. census estimate, its population is 543. 2007 estimates are closer to 1000 with about half the population living in Parker County. The Pate Museum is in Parker County in between the two neighborhoods of Bourland Field and Bluebonnet Hills on US Hwy 377. The city was named after John Cresson, captain of a wagon train that camped in the area before the civil war. Cresson was incorporated in 2001. The Granbury Independent School District and the Aledo Independent School District serve area students.
