Notable people
George W. Bush
The Waco suburb is best known for President George W. Bush's Prairie Chapel Ranch, located just outside the town. Crawford is the site of many anti-Iraq War demonstrations including Camp Casey, when Cindy Sheehan purchased 5 acres just outside of Crawford and intended to stay until she is granted a face-to-face meeting with the President.[2] However, most of the Crawford residents are conservative and support the Iraq War. This is demonstrated by the construction of "Camp Reality" in the third week of demonstrating. It was located in a ditch across the road from Camp Casey and was set up to oppose Sheehan.[3] Bush is not, however, a Crawford native; he is a native of Connecticut who purchased a ranch in Crawford in later life.
Ted Nugent
Ted Nugent, the Detroit-born hard rock guitarist and hunting advocate, also currently resides in Crawford.[4]
