Craig Cash (born 1960 in Stockport, Cheshire) is a popular English comedy writer and performer made famous for playing slightly dull and dopey working-class northern men, particularly Dave Best in the hugely successful BBC sitcom The Royle Family, which he co-wrote along with Caroline Aherne. He has also written for The Fast Show and for Aherne on The Mrs Merton Show. More recently, Cash has teamed up with Phil Mealey to write the critically acclaimed BBC sitcom Early Doors and is currently advertising Norwich Union on television. He has two sons called Harry and Billy, who appeared in the one-off episode of The Royle Family entitled "The Queen of Sheba". Craig first rose to prominence in the late 1980s/early 1990s as a music radio DJ on cult south Manchester station KFM, where his shows featured a section entitled 'Who's Mother', featuring the vocal talents of Caroline Aherne. During this period he was also the manager of the band "That Uncertain Feeling".
