Christine Schutt is an American novelist. She is the author of A Day, A Night, Another Day, Summer (Northwestern, 2005) the novel Florida (Northwestern, 2004), a finalist for the 2004 National Book Award for Fiction, and Nightwork (Knopf, 1996), a collection of short stories chosen by poet John Ashbery as the best book of 1996 for the Times Literary Supplement. Her most recent novel, ALL SOULS, will be published by Harcourt in spring of 2008. Schutt received her BA and MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her MFA from Columbia University. Schutt lives in New York City and teaches at The Nightingale-Bamford School. She serves as the faculty advisor for the school literary magazine Philomel and The Book Club, and is an English teacher in the high school in the fall semester. She has taught graduate and undergraduate writing at Barnard, Bennington, Columbia, Hollins, Sarah Lawrence, U. Mass-Amherst, and U.C.-Irvine. She will teach at the Sewanee Summer Writers' Conference for 2008. Schutt is a senior editor at NOON, the literary annual published by Diane Williams.
