Chris Rix (born May 1, 1981) is a former National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) American football quarterback for the Florida State Seminoles (FSU). Rix was the first four year starter at quarterback in the school's history under coach Bobby Bowden.[1] Rix graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in 2000, the same high school as National Football League (NFL) Pro Bowl quarterback Carson Palmer.[1] Rix had his most successful season in 2003 when he passed for 3,107 yards and 23 touchdowns. He ranks second in school history in passes attempted, completed, and touchdowns thrown. Despite a promising start, including being named the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) freshman of the year, Rix finished with a 25–11 record as a starting quarterback and was benched during his senior year.[2] Rix lost to the University of Miami five times during his career.[3] He is the first quarterback to lose to the same team five times. After his career ended Rix became the founder and president of the Champion Training Academy LLC., an organization designed to train and coach young quarterbacks.[4] He also signed with College Sports TV, a division of CBS, in July 2006 to work as an analyst in their coverage of college football games.[5] He was recently the sideline reporter for FOX Sports during an NFL game between the San Diego Chargers and Arizona Cardinals on December 31, 2006.
