Chekhovo (Russian: Че́хово) is a village in Sakhalin Oblast, Russia, at the Strait of Tartary. Population: 4,944 (2002 Census); 7,901 (1989 Census). Before 1946 it was named Noda (Но́да). It was granted town status and renamed Chekhov (after the Russian writer Anton Chekhov) in 1947. It was demoted to village in 2004 [1], and changed its name to Chekhovo.
