Frederick Charles Pelham (1885-December 12, 1940) was a well known lifeboat captain and forester in the Littlehampton area in the early 1900s. He was the first lifeboat captain in Littlehampton. He was married twice. He divorced his first wife and had twelve children. His father, also called Charles Pelham, was also very well known and was a fisherman. In the local area some legends tell of him having many adventures including seeing a boy with a dog's head. Although this is obviously a rumour, it is true that he was a seafaring man and went on many trips. His family worked on the river Arun and were well respected. His family married the Sturgis family.
