Carpathianism is a fictional religion established by the character Nicolae Carpathia in the Left Behind series of novels by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins. The official and only legal religion of Earth, Carpathianism is established by the Antichrist figure and leader of the global government in the Left Behind series of books. The religion lasts for three and a half years before meeting its downfall at the hands of Jesus Christ.

Formation

Carpathianism is founded by Global Community Supreme Potentate and Antichrist Nicolae Carpathia in book eight of the series, The Mark. Having been "indwelt "by Satan and raised from the dead after being slain by Chaim Rosenzweig, Carpathia is quick to proclaim himself as the one true God. Promoting his Supreme Commander and False Prophet Leon Fortunato to the rank of Most High Reverend Father of Carpathianism, he outlaws all existing religions and declares that swift and brutal punishment will come to those who refuse to adopt this religion and, in turn, worship him as God.
