The Canterbury Flames is a New Zealand netball team based in Christchurch, New Zealand that competed in the National Bank Cup competition in New Zealand until the end of 2007. The Flames will compete in the trans-tasman ANZ Championship from 2008. They play their home games at the 6000-seat Westpac Centre in Christchurch, which they share with basketball's Canterbury Rams. By comparison, Invercargill's Stadium Southland has a 5000-seat capacity, 13 indoor courts, 4 indoor tennis courts, a multi-million dollar velodrome and 12 business rooms, all at the Invercargill Complex. The Canterbury Flames are coached by Margaret Foster. Current star players include current Silver Fern Julie Seymour. Former Canterbury Flames players include Belinda Charteris (née Blair), Belinda Colling current Fiji coach Vilimaina Davu.
