Candice Daly (January 4, 1963 - December 14, 2004) was an American film and television actress. In the late 1980s and early 1990s she starred in a number of B-movies and cult films such as After Death (1988) and Liquid Dreams (1991). She was at one time was engaged to one of her co-stars Brent Huff.[1]. Perhaps the role which garnered her the widest audience was psychotic Veronica Landers on American soap opera The Young and the Restless from 1997 to 1998. A mental patient, Veronica Landers was thought to be dead by her husband Josh (Heath Kizzier), who remarried the wealthy and beautiful Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott). Veronica gets a wig and glasses to disguise herself and was hired as a maid at Josh and Nikki's house. After working for them for several months, she finally revealed her true identity to Josh, who rejected her. Angry and devastated, she gunned down her husband and nearly killed Nikki. Nikki recovered, and Veronica lost her wig and glasses and reemerged as her true self. She dated the Newman butler Miguel (Anthony Pena), who got her a job as a researcher for Cole, who discovers that Veronica was the killer. She tried to kill Nikki again before falling on a pitchfork in the stables and dying. Work was scarce for Daly after her soap days ended, and she was found dead in a rundown Los Angeles apartment on December 14, 2004. The cause was listed as unknown even though drug abuse was suspected, but her on-and-off boyfriend had said that he believes that she was a victim of foul play.[2]. The American tabloid The Globe claimed she had been fired from Y&R because of her drug problems and was difficult to work with; Melody Thomas Scott blasted the report and stated to Soap Opera Weekly that on behalf of the entire cast and crew of the show that Daly was a lovely, funny, very professional woman whom they had never had any problems with.
