Established in 1919, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is a leader in standards development. CSA is a not-for-profit association composed of representatives from industry. Its mark appears on billions of qualified products sold annually, around the world. Approval by CSA or another recognized national testing laboratory is required by law for many products sold within Canada. Due to the legal requirement and the cost of standards testing, counterfeit marks are not uncommon.[1] CSA develops product safety and performance standards including those for electrical and electronic equipment, industrial equipment, compressed gas handling appliances, environmental protection, and construction materials. CSA also provides training materials and information products. Each year, thousands of people benefit from the training materials, workshops and seminars offered by the CSA Learning Centre. The CSA is a division of CSA Group which also includes CSA International, a global certification and testing organization; OnSpeX, a provider of consumer product evaluation services and; QMI, a leading North American management systems registrar.
