Ted Nugents' raucous 1973 journey into the netherlands just a little bit beyond the center of his mind. Contains a few memorable tracks, most notably the title cut "Call of the Wild" and the rowdy "Pony Express" which could be considered a blistering prelude to what was still to come ("Great White Buffalo" from the next album Tooth Fang & Claw). This album revealed Ted's still blossoming knack for honing razor sharp speed metal licks, but he was already full throttle with his unkempt on- and off-stage persona. Call of the Wild can be considered a collectible if only for documenting how "The Tarzan of 70's arena rock" progressed from 60's flower power to 70's metal grunge. The title song was covered by the Tote Hosen for their album "Unsterblich" in 1999.
