Cajun Dance Party are an English 5-piece indie band from London. Despite still being in sixth form, they released their debut single, The Next Untouchable, on April 16th on WayOutWest Records which was voted NME track of the week on 9th April 2007. It was first played on Radio 1 on 26th February 2007 by Steve Lamacq, and was voted as being the best demo of 2006. The Next Untouchable was released in March 2007 and limited to only 1000 copies, as well as being sold on iTunes.
On April 19th they played the Camden Crawl along with acts including Air Traffic, New Young Pony Club and Jack Penate.
They were later signed to XL Recordings for an undisclosed sum. In June they played at Glastonbury Festival, before embarking on their first UK tour in July which included dates in Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London. On 24th and 25th August they played the Reading and Leeds Festivals among industry icons such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arcade Fire, and the Smashing Pumpkins.
Their latest single Amylase/Fill The Cups was released on 27th August.[1] The next single, The Race, should be released early next year. A debut album is not expected to be released until Summer 2008 due to the band doing their A Levels.
The band's drummer Will Vignoles is the son of the famous classical accompanist Roger Vignoles. Thom Yorke has named Cajun Dance Party as one of his favourite new bands.
