Bruno Mattei (30 July 193121 May 2007) was an Italian film director and editor who gained a minor cult following for his exploitation films. He used many pseudonyms, including Vincent Dawn (choosing the surname as a nod to George Romero's Dawn of the Dead). The first film directed by Mattei was Armida il dramma di una sposa. Soon after he made the infamous nazi exploitation classic KZ 9 and SS Girls. In the 1980s he created a string of zombi, nun exploitation and knock off films. In total he made over 50 films, many of them were low budget, however they have attracted a cult follwing ever since. Mattei was hospitalized in early May 2007 due to complications from a stomach tumor, and lapsed into a coma shortly after. He died on May 21, 2007.
