"Breakdown" is a song by Tom Petty. The lyrics describe the singer's strong feelings of connection to a girl or woman. He knows that she feels the same way but she is resisting her feelings. Petty is telling the girl that he doesn't care if she "thinks" she cares a lot (love me) or not (you don't), that he feels secure (I'm not afraid of you running away). Petty is imploring her to surrender to her feelings, which are clear from her eyes -- so why try to pretend otherwise? --, as well as reassuring her that everything will be all right.
Trivia
The song "Breakdown Throwdown Beatdown Brodown" by the Massachusetts deathcore band The Texas Chainsaw Mascara references Petty's song. Played live, Tom Petty Incorporates Breakdown with Ray Charles "Hit The Road Jack".
