J.L. Brandeis & Sons was a chain of department stores located in the Omaha, Nebraska area started by Jonas L. Brandeis in 1881. It was purchased by Younkers for $35 million in 1987, and the stores were converted to the Younkers name. Brandeis' downtown Omaha flagship store, built in 1906 and expanded in 1917, contained the first escalator in the Midwestern United States. Brandeis also developed two major malls in the Omaha area, Crossroads Mall and Southroads Mall.
