Boris Kodjoe, (born March 8, 1973 in Vienna, Austria) is a multilingual actor and former male fashion model. Named one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World" by People Magazine in 2002, Kodjoe is perhaps best known as one of the seven regular cast members from the Showtime drama Soul Food, which aired from 2000 to 2004. He starred in the short-lived sitcom Second Time Around with his Soul Food co-star Nicole Ari Parker, whom he eventually married. He played the role of David Taylor, the wayward son of Pastor Fred Taylor in the October 2005 film The Gospel. Kodjoe recently starred in the film Madea's Family Reunion playing the role of Frankie the bus driver. His mother is a German psychologist and father is a Ghanaian physician. He is fluent in speaking German, French, English and Spanish. Kodjoe aspired to be a professional tennis player. A back injury ended his tennis aspirations; however, he was quickly discovered for modeling and soon after fell into acting. He has a brother named Patrick and a sister named Nadja. On June 20, 2004, Kodjoe and his Soul Food co-star, Nicole Ari Parker, became engaged. Their first child, Sophie Tei-Naaki Lee Kodjoe, was born on March 5, 2005. The two later married on May 21, 2005 in Gundelfingen, Germany. Their second child, a boy named Nicolas Neruda Kodjoe, was born October 31, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia. His height is 6' 2½"(1.89 m).In audience screenings for the movie Brown Sugar, people rated Boris Kodjoe's character higher than any other castmember in the entire movie. Boris attended Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, VA, where he played tennis for the Rams. Boris' brother Patrick played for VCU's basketball team.
