Bonnie and Terry Turner are a husband-and-wife writing team, best known for creating the sitcoms Third Rock From the Sun (1996 - 2001) and the That '70s Show (1998 - 2006), in which they created characters such as Eric Forman, Donna Pinciotti, Michael Kelso and Jackie Burkhart, for NBC and FOX respectively. They also created the ill-fated spin-off That '80s Show for FOX in 2002. Their other writing credits include Saturday Night Live and Normal, Ohio. Between 1987 and 1995 they wrote/co-wrote six films, including Coneheads, Wayne's World, Tommy Boy and The Brady Bunch Movie.
Atlanta History
Bonnie and Terry were part of a 1980s Atlanta comedy troupe, whose members often appeared on the local Atlanta comedy TV show "The Bill Tush Show." Bonnie and Terry also worked as feature writers for (no relation) Ted Turner's new (at the time) CNN spinoff, CNN Headline News. In the mid '80's, Bonnie and Terry produced a Sunday morning magazine show on WTBS named Good News with host Liz Wickersham. Another comedy troupe member and good friend, Jan Hooks, after appearing in Pee Wee's Big Adventure had landed a spot on Saturday Night Live. Occasionally, Bonnie and Terry submitted comedy material for Jan (and via Jan) to Lorne Michaels. Within a year, Lorne had convinced Bonnie and Terry to leave their lives in Atlanta and come to work in New York as fulltime writers on SNL.
