Career

2007/08 Season

Bobo started the 2007-08 season by scoring 3 goals in the first 3 matches; most notably scoring twice in the 3-0 victory over F.C. Sherrif in Champions League 2. qualifying round. Besiktas board dicussed to extend Bobo's contract after his successful form in early season. Right after the consensus provided between two side, Bobo had committed his future to Kara Kartallar until 2011 which has already declared to IMKB as his annual fee was increased to 1,2 million Euros.[2] On 20 October 2007, Saturday, Besiktas faced Trabzonspor on a crucial encounter due to critics by media authorities on both side coaches. Blacksea region team opened the game with 2 goals in early minutes of the first half (Gökdeniz on 1st and Yattara on 6th min.) and equalized the score with header of Burak and Delgado's penalty just before the half time.[1] In the second half, Besiktas goalkeeper Rüştü was sent off for handling outside of the box in the 79th minute and Bobo replaced him until the end of the game. He had several saves during Bordo-Mavililers attacks and performed a vital help for this historic away victory.[3] He later declared that he had feared some of Trabzonspor attacks, particularly during the free-kick of Trabzon's playmaker Ceyhun and striker Umut's header. He told the press:[2]

"I applied for goal as keeper to help my team. I wasn't physically ready at the beginning of season. I had difficulties with my knee and back. I had attended the games late minutes."

Additionally he said:

"Cisse was also willing to replace the goalkeeper. I just realized that i felt good and thought that i wouldn't concede a goal. The threats from near by our line were dangerous. I was really dreading free-kick of Ceyhun Eriş. To be a keeper is a difficult role. You could concede in any tiny error."

On 25 October 2007, Beşiktaş played with Liverpool at Inonu Stadium at Champions League clash. Home side won the game with 2-1 final score as Bobo placed himself in scoresheet.[4] On 3 November 2007, Saturday, 11th matchday of Turkish League Beşiktaş clashed with Fenerbahçe in Kadıköy as Bobo opened up the score with his breakthough on 3rd minute of the game. However, he also missed several occasions rest of the game and Besiktas could not manage to win. The final score was 2-1 and Fenerbahce had a victory against Besiktas after 6.5 years as home side.[5] This was the 319th encounter between two teams.[6] On 28 November 2007, Wednesday, Besiktas hosted Marseille on the matchday 5 in Champions League. Bobo scored the winning goal of his team just before the final whistle on 88th minute after a lob through pass by Delgado towards the space on right wing where Bobo picked the ball up. Then he went though the box and beaten French team keeper Mandanda.[7] The team kept the hopes until the last encounter against Porto to be qualified to 2nd Round. The final score was 2-1 for Besiktas.[8] The team kept the hopes until the last encounter against Porto to be qualified to 2nd Round.
