Blackstone Valley Rail will eventually be a trail roughly following the Providence and Worcester Railroad and the former Blackstone Canal between the two cities.

Description

This is not a true rail to trail project because the trail has not replaced the rails. Portions are finished, and in use, but the trail as a whole is far from finished. A 3-mile portion in Millbury and Worcester, Massachusetts officially opened in 2005. A shorter but very scenic portion goes through Riverbend Farm State Park in Uxbridge. Several long sections are also open in Rhode Island.
