Black Mesa is a rocket testing facility of the US Army in Utah.[1] Many rockets of the Pershing type have been launched for testing from Black Mesa between 1963 and 1971.

Cultural References

Black Mesa is well known from the computer game Half Life, which takes place in the Black Mesa Research Facility, a secret, "Area 51-style" laboratory located underground, below the complex. Black Mesa, however, takes place in New Mexico during the game.
