Black Friday Rule is a song by the Celtic punk band Flogging Molly. It describes the emigration of the band's lead vocalist Dave King from Ireland to California.

Discography

The song first appeared on Flogging Molly's 1997 live album Alive Behind The Green Door. A studio version was later released on Swagger, Flogging Molly's first studio album. An extended live version of the song is included on Whiskey on a Sunday, a CD/DVD combo album. So extended, in fact, that afterwards Dave King remarks, "I don't know about you bastards, but I've grown at least five years fucking older during that song. You think it's fucking long enough or what?"

Importance to Band

On the Whiskey on a Sunday DVD Dave King mentions the song and describes it as a favorite of his. In an explanation he comments that the song covers much of the band's style as well as their influences, and really brings a performance together, as this song is the closest the band has to a "jam" song.
