BlackHawk is an American country music trio founded in 1992. Its original members comprised lead vocalist Henry Paul (born August 25, 1949 in Kingston, New York[1]), tenor vocalist/guitarist Van Stephenson (born November 4, 1953 in Hamilton, Ohio; died April 8, 2001 in Nashville, Tennessee[1]), and baritone vocalist/keyboardist Dave Robbins (born May 26, 1959 in Atlanta, Georgia[1]). Prior to the group's formation, Robbins and Stephenson had co-written several Number One singles for the country pop band Restless Heart.[1] In 1994, BlackHawk was signed to a record deal with Arista Nashville. Their debut single, "Goodbye Says It All", was released that year, peaking at #11 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Their first album, 1994's BlackHawk, was certified platinum in the United States for sales of one million copies. Van Stephenson departed the group in 2000 due to complications from skin cancer; he was replaced with Randy Threet in 2003, and was subsequently replaced Anthony Crawford; Crawford was, in turn, succeeded by Michael Randall in 2007.[1] Between 1994 and the present, BlackHawk has charted eighteen singles on the U.S. country singles charts, in addition to releasing four studio albums and a Greatest Hits compilation. Their biggest chart singles to date are "Every Once in a While" (1994) and "I'm Not Strong Enough to Say No" (1996), both of which peaked at #2.

The original lineup for the band was Henry Paul, Dave Robbins, and guitarist/vocalist Van Stephenson, who died of skin cancer in April 2001. Stephenson was replaced by Randy Threet, the band's bass player, until 2003, when Anthony Crawford signed on. After losing a record deal in 2000 with Arista Records (the group's original label), BlackHawk recorded an album, Spirit Dancer, for Columbia Records, and then switched to Rust Records. That label soon shut its doors, followed by Crawford's exit from the band. BlackHawk has since signed with Radiance Records.
BackHawk
In addition, the group has included a road band named BackHawk, which featured Tere Bertke (bass guitar), Dale Oliver (guitar), and Bobby Huff (drums). The road band now consists of a rhythm section composed of Kirk Eberhard on bass guitar and Michael Bailey on drums.
