Bentenjima (弁天島?) is a small deserted island northwest of Cape Sōya, Wakkanai, Hokkaidō, Japan. It is the northernmost point of the territory under Japanese control. The island is 1km north from Sannai settlement. Another island called Hirashima (平島?) lies southeast to the island. Bentenjima is approximately 0.5km around, 0.005km² in area, and its highest point is 20m above sea level. Its name comes from Benzaiten once enshrined in the island. The island and the around are rich in nature, containing lots of seabirds, steller sea lions, kombu kelp, and sea urchins.
